Werribee Park Mansion was a fascinating place in 1908! Uncover the secret lives of the Chirnsides in a most theatrical experience. Let a mischievous maid and suspicious butler take you on an entertaining journey through one of Australia's most spectacular properties. Just keep your wits about you...
This scary comedy play ‘What Was That?’ is performed as a roaming night tour at Werribee Park.
The experience is set in 1908 after the tragic death of Mary Chirnside. Maggie the maid and the butler, Mr Duncan, take guests on a journey through their elaborate and peculiar workplace. As guests, you arrive at the Mansion and are treated as old friends of the Chirnsides (albeit suspiciously by Mr. Duncan). Maggie desperately wants your company and tries to keep you staying as long as possible. She often takes you to places you are not supposed to go much to the vexation of Mr. Duncan and the amusement of you, the guests. As you move from room to room in the original setting of this great house, the story unfolds. You must always keep alert though - you never know what is going to happen around those dark corners! Performed by professional actors, the play takes you back in time to into the lives of the wealthy squatters and their poor servants. Discover the mansion, the tragedies and the hauntings at Werribee Park. End the evening with a glass of sparkling wine as you mingle with the actors and other guests. It's a night to remember! That’s 10% of the Australian population! When we started ‘doing’ experiences in 2001, Facebook didn’t exist; the iPod had just been invented; John Howard was Prime Minister; and Destiny's Child were popular (yikes!). We’ve been at this business of experiences for quite a while, so put your trust in us to show you a good time.
