  • Two experienced, passionate and knowledgeable guides
  • Boat trips to Schouten Island on day one and along the Peninsula on day two
  • All food, wine and beer

  • National Parks Pass

Day 1: (2-hour walk, 3km, moderate, 200m total elevation gain)

Departing Hobart at 8:30am, hit the road with your group to begin the scenic journey to Coles Bay, admiring the stunning views of the Freycinet Peninsula across Great Oyster Bay. After morning tea at Spiky Beach, you'll be treated to a spectacular sea cruise down the western length of the Peninsula to Schouten Island, the southernmost part of Freycinet National Park (weather permitting). Keep an eye out for pods of dolphins and large Australasian gannets diving for food.

Day 2: (7-hour walk, 14 km, moderate, 213m total elevation gain or 8-hour walk, 16 km, difficult, 792m total elevation gain)

Kick start the day with another magnificent boating adventure down the Peninsula before you are given the choice of two walks. The first, travel from Bryans Beach through sclerophyll forests and along beaches to the world-famous Wineglass Bay. The second offers a greater level of difficulty and will have you climbing from Cooks Beach to the top of Mt Graham (579m above sea level) where you'll be rewarded with incredible views of The Hazards' dusky pink rock outcrops, before descending to Wineglass Bay via spectacular Quartzite Ridge. Rejoin at Wineglass Bay in the late afternoon for a swim in the crystal clear waters. Feeling refreshed, take the climb to Wineglass Bay Lookout for breathtaking views, then descend to the waiting vehicle. Back at the lodge, relax and freshen up before drinks and a candlelit dinner.

Day 3: (6-7 hour walk, 14km, easy to moderate, 205m total elevation gain)

Rise for a delicious breakfast before travelling to the secluded Bluestone Bay for another day of exploration. Explore the rugged White Water Wall and little Bluestone Bay before climbing to the cliff tops. Journey back to the lodge on foot, following an ancient track through picturesque bushland. Stroll along the white sands of Friendly Beaches and perhaps reward yourself with a dip in the sparkling ocean waters. Back at the lodge, cool drinks and homemade afternoon tea awaits. End the day with a hearty meal and unwind with a glass of local wine by the fire, peruse the library or simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 4: (3-hour walk, 6 km, easy, 96m elevation gain - optional)

After breakfast, embark on an optional walk along the fossil-rich ridgeline of Mount Mary and a descent to Saltwater Lagoon, where you'll discover black swans and pelicans in their natural nesting ground. A delicious brunch follows before you take a final wander along Friendly Beaches to Isaacs Point, the meeting place for your bus trip back to Hobart.

    Other Info

There is no mobile phone reception at Friendly Beaches Lodge and only small patches of reception along the Freycinet Peninsula (Telstra network preferred). Guides will happily point out these areas if you would like to discreetly check messages or make a phone call. There is only one power board at the Lodge to charge devices so it is best to bring them fully charged. Provider recommends phones to be put onto flight mode to extend battery life. As this is a lodge based walk, you are free to bring all your luggage with you and store it in your room at the Lodge.
