Experience a day trip out of the reef like no other with this meaningful Marine Biologist Eco Tour. You’ll have a behind-the-scenes look into the work of a Marine Biologist studying the incredible Great Barrier Reef. Kick off your day at 8 am with a tasty morning tea as you get to know your host and your team and learn all about the marine ecosystem from an expert. Your first snorkel adventure is focused on data collection, where you’ll actively get to participate in fully supervised research activities.
For lunch, you’ll be treated to a freshly prepared tropical buffet, including a selection of hot and cold buffet meals, salads and tropical fruits. You’ll travel to the second outer reef location for the day, where you’ll get to learn about coral diversity, threats, and adaptions. Finish off the experience by hosting the sails, and cruising back to Cairns as you complete the final steps of data entry with your host.
This is a fully hosted educational activity for passionate snorkelers looking to take their Great Barrier Reef Experience to the next level! Learn to appreciate this amazing ecosystem and be inspired to take action.
There is a maximum of 8 passengers per hosted research group onboard. There is a maximum capacity of 90 on the boat.
At times it is only possible to visit one destination due to inclement weather conditions and strong winds.
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring your swim wear and towels too!
