Understand how the incredible species of Hanson Bay and the landscape bounce back after devastating bushfires during this guided tour. Led by a knowledgeable guide, you will witness first hand the regeneration of the island's flora and fauna and the Sanctuary's extraordinary actions.
Devastated by the bushfires that roared through Kangaroo Island in 2020, the flora and fauna of the island have since bounced back incredibly. This guided tour of Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary will showcase both the landscape and the wildlife's incredible resilience and restoration, as well as the fire ecology of the island. You'll also hear of the Sanctuary's extraordinary steps of supplementing food sources for several weeks while the native plant life recovered, and sending 28 koalas to Cleland as an insurance colony against another catastrophic event. Make sure to bring your camera and binoculars as there will be incredible photo opportunities along the way.
Medium level fitness is required for this tour.
