Looking for a new way to see the city of Melbourne? Come along to our Melbourne Daytime tour for a new view of the city and its famed waterways.
Ideal for beginners, this sea kayak tour is the perfect way to get close - but not too close - as you watch yachts, ferries and ships pass by. Cruise along the Yarra River in the heart of the CBD, avoiding the hustle and bustle of the street traffic while taking in the city’s vibrant nature and learning a little bit about the historical significance of the dock areas.
It all begins with the provision and fitting of your personal floatation device, paddle jacket and paddle, as well as an appropriate spray deck to try to keep the water out. Once you're kitted up, you will undertake an important safety briefing, including a dry capsize drill whilst you're still on land, followed by a few warm-up stretches to ensure you're nice and limber. You will then be paired up into paddling partners - most kayaks are double kayaks, though single kayaks are available for the more experienced paddlers in the group - and taken through some basic strokes for 10 minutes before you and your group set off on the real adventure. From here, just relax and absorb the stunning Melbourne city views from the edge of the water whilst listening to historical commentary from your knowledgeable guide.
When the group returns to the start, you will pack your gear away and change into some warm clothes. After a couple of hours of kayaking, we're pretty sure you will have worked up a bit of an appetite, and there is plenty of opportunity to visit one of the many cafes or restaurants conveniently situated in the South Bank area. This tour includes all equipment, snacks and drinks and is a great introduction to what sea kayaking is like but at a gentler pace to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your kayaking experience!
The price quoted is for one person. We operate with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 16 people on the trip. Should minimum numbers not be met, we reserve the right to reschedule your experience for a later date.
In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider
Bring bathers, thermal top or 'rashy', water bottle, wet suit boots,old runners or sandals or thongs. Spray jacket, thermal top, PFD and spray deck are supplied.
Youll be required to sign an indemnity form and complete a medical questionnaire prior to participating in the experience.
