Discover the beauty of the Palm Valley on a 4WD outback safari that will take you to destinations off the beaten track. See spectacular sandstone landscapes, the world's oldest river and an Aboriginal community as you traverse from West MacDonnell Ranges to Hermannsburg and into the famous valley.
Adventure out into the sandstone country of the Palm Valley for a full-day outback safari. You'll begin your day travelling by 4WD through the West MacDonnell Ranges to Hermannsburg (or Ntaria), where you'll be immersed in the art, culture and history of the local Aboriginal community. Admire the works of renowned local watercolour artist Albert Namatjira and enjoy morning tea here before venturing into the Palm Valley.
From Hermannsburg, you'll travel down the bed of the Finke River and witness the magic of one of the world's oldest riverbeds. Then, make your way into the amazing Palm Valley where you'll feast your eyes to an oasis boasting spectacular rock forms, white sands, rock pools and the famous red cabbage palms that are unique to the area. Visit an incredible rock formation known as the 'Ampitheatre', before settling down to a relaxed picnic lunch in the outback. At the end of the day, watch the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges change colours with the afternoon light.

Please wear enclosed walking shoes, sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. Water bottle to hold one litre and warm layers in the cooler months is highly recommended.
