Be immersed in the fascinating Budj Bim Cultural Landscape in southwestern Victoria, a World Heritage listed site and home of one of Australia's oldest and largest aquaculture systems. Your Gunditjmara cultural guide will take you on an informative tour around Tae Rak (Lake Condah) where you'll learn about the significance of the lake, which is made up of 1,700 hectares of wetlands and stony rises.

Your tour will begin at the front of the lake where your guide will briefly share the Gunditjmara creation story, and will point out the marine and bird-life that inhabit the lake. You'll continue along the western edge to see the ancient landscape and come across the aquaculture sites and fish traps that the Gunditjmara people created to sustain life for tens of thousands of years. You'll learn learn how this extensive and complex aquaculture system is used to harvest and process kooyang (eel) for food and trade, and how the Gunditjmara people have practiced this for over 6,000 years.
