Escape the city for a weekend and immerse yourself into the surf culture at Australia's original surf camp for beginners. Based on the NSW South Coast, admire the national park backdrop as you discover the thrill of learning to surf and relax in our modern beachside cabins!
On Friday afternoon, you'll meet our staff in Wake Up Hostel , Sydney and take 2hr journey to Surf Camp at 7 Mile Beach Gerroa .. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your head surf instructor and the on-site staff. After an overview of the camp, you'll find your rooms and start getting ready for surf camp to be your new home for the weekend! IOn Saturday morning, you'll meet for breakfast and then its time to head to the beach!
Once there, you'll receive a talk on tides and conditions, and how to identify the safest part of the beach to surf, followed by paddling technique. After that, its straight into the water to practice your paddling. Once you feel comfortable, your surf instructor will then go on to teach you how to stand up on your board and take you into the water to experience catching your first wave! Most people will stand up within the first lesson. During the day you'll receive 2 surfing lessons which are each 2 hours in duration and you'll be provided with lunch and a rest period in between the lessons.
Afterwards, it's time to relax. Dinner is served and then you're free to enjoy the evening as you wish. The next morning all you can think about is getting back into the water! After breakfast you'll head to the beach, where you'll have another 2 hour lesson, building on the skills you learnt yesterday, After your last group surfing lesson, you'll have lunch, be given time to pack and get ready for the journey back to Sydney. We arrive back at approximately 6pm on Sunday.
The price quoted is for one person. We operate with a maximum of 8 surfers per instructor. We can cater for larger groups if required please contact us for further details.
This experience operates all most weather conditions, including rain. Guides will ensure that you only surf in the safest conditions.
All you need to bring is swimwear/boardshorts, 30+ water resistant sunscreen, a towel, and lots of energy! The use of our quality surfboards and wetsuits are included in the package. All linen is provided so theres no need for sleeping bags.
