Adventurous, outdoorsy types need only apply! The action packed day includes white water rafting and adventure caving. Brave grade 2 rapids and challenge your skills, then it's on to the caves. Climb and crawl over chasms and boulders, marvel at glow worms and wade through a subterranean river.
This full day experience combines two exhilarating adventures; white-water rafting and adventure caving! both of which are our most popular experiences. Your adventure will begin when you meet your guides and the rest of your tour group. You will kit up in your safety equipment and set out on the beautiful Yarra River. Surrounded by native bushland, gorges and valleys, you'll navigate exciting grade 2 rapids. Paddle over raging waters and waves and have a tonne of fun negotiating the twists and turns. Tackle Bob's Rock and pinball rapid as you challenge your paddling skills.
Next up it's adventure caving. Get ready to explore the depths of the earth and wade through subterranean rivers, marvel at the phosphorus glow worms, cross chasms and explore the caverns of this unique granite boulder cave! Adventure caving is a great way to see the Earth from a totally different perspective. As you venture into the darkness with only your torch, you really do feel like an adventurer as you make your way into the pitch-black cave it really is like another world down there. You will spend your time underground exploring the fascinating sights of this alien underground world. Remember this is not your average guided walk-around caving experience- this is adventure caving! You will be crawling on your hands and knees, scrambling over rocks, sliding, navigating some tight spaces, exploring hidden caverns and getting wet and muddy. This adventure can be quite physical but guaranteed it is worth the effort
These caves have everything required for a fantastic caving experience, in fact there are only 5 known caves like this one in Victoria which makes it quite special, formed over thousands of years of water erosion these huge granite boulders jumbled on top of each other make this caving adventure a thrilling experience and houses a unique eco system of glow worms, cave crickets and fungi.
Weight limit of 110kg for the caves and you must be in proportion for your size. Minimum age of 10 years old and they must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Average level of fitness required. You will need to self drive to both locations.
We require a minimum number of 6 participants to run this experience and a maximum of 12 people.
Generally the weather does not affect the rafting or caving however if lightning, fire or severe wind are apparent the tour provider may postpone the activity. You can be rescheduled.
YOU MUST WEAR CLOSED TOED FOOTWEAR such as runners. For rafting wear a t-shirt and shorts or similar apparel in summer months, in winter months please DO NOT WEAR COTTON. Thermals work best and a warm jumper or jacket. For caving please wear thick long trousers and a long sleeved top to protect your elbows and knees from the rocks. Ensure they are old clothes you don't mind getting wet and dirty. We recommend wearing a few layers of clothing for extra protection.
Please bring water, towel, bathers and 2 sets of adventure clothes, one set for the rafting and one set for the caving as well as a clean set of clothes, towel and shoes for after the caving session.
This adventure tour takes place at multiple locations in Wonga Park, VIC and Yarra junction. The caving site is approximately a 45 minute drive from the rafting location.
